"Analytical intelligence, absolutely. Emotional intelligence, zero"

That's the damning verdict given by former prime minister Tony Blair on his successor Gordon Brown.

We can probably all think of people who are highly intelligent – and possibly very analytical – but who don’t have that essential ‘relateability’ to others. Indeed we’d go so far as to emphasise this quality of emotional intelligence is often vital for success in the modern day working world. It seems to be the glue that is keeping the coalition government together. As our Coaching and Training Director Charlotte Wolfe writes about emotional intelligence on our website:

"The higher someone is in an organisation, the more important their emotional intelligence. Too often, lack of emotional intelligence can be a career de-railer.” More information>>>

Given the outcome of the last election, Charlotte’s words, written last summer, appear highly prophetic.

The good new is that emotional intelligence isn’t fixed – it can be developed - and Charlotte is able to provide you and your teams with an emotional intelligence profile, half-day coaching session and personalised development plan to enhance positive impact at work. Perhaps Gordon should have tried it.
