Emotional Intelligent Coaching
Emotional intelligence - or emotional quotient (EQ) - is increasingly accepted as a higher predictor of success than intellectual intelligence (IQ). We can probably all think of people who are extremely intelligent in the traditional sense, but lack the all-important capacity to get on effectively with others.
The good news is that your EQ can be assessed and it can be developed and we are introducing 360 personal emotional intelligence evaluation to our ILM Level 7 Certificate in Executive Coaching and Leadership Mentoring.
Coaching Director Charlotte Wolfe, who will be overseeing the evaluation, says: "Emotional intelligence is a vital ingredient to successful coaching. It requires the coach to be comfortable coaching in the all-important psychological and emotional areas of personal and professional development.
"The higher someone is in an organisation, the more important their emotional intelligence. Too often, lack of emotional intelligence can be a career de-railer. If the coach is going to be effective in working with clients, then it is important that they have spent time becoming aware of their personal emotional intelligence strengths and needs – otherwise they are going to be severely limited in their effectiveness of working with others."
