[NOTE - COPY SUPPLIED IS FOR LEVEL 2] ILM Level 2 Award in Team Leading.
The Award is a concise qualification designed to give learners a basic knowledge of the various roles, functions and responsibilities of a team leader. The mandatory unit in ‘developing yourself as team leader’ is a good starting point for team leaders who are new to their roles or for aspiring leaders who wish to gain a solid understanding of the principles and practicalities of team leading.
The Certificate builds and broadens the skills and knowledge gained in the Award. The Certificate programme in more in-depth and requires a minimum of 65 guided learning hours and can be completed within 2 years.
Aims
The ILM Level 2 Award in Team Leading aims to give practising or potential team leaders the foundation for their formal development in this role. The qualification does this by developing team leading skills and assisting participants in gaining the knowledge required at this level.
Team Leader Profile
The team leader role is distinct from that of the first line manager in its tendency to focus on the shorter term, on the day-to-day performance of the team and its members. This means a responsibility for allocating tasks between team members, for ensuring that individuals are supported in the performance of their job role, and that output conforms to the requirements of the organisation and its customers. Communication between the team and its managers is a significant part of the team leader role.
Team leaders can be expected to be aware of the need to satisfy customer or supplier requirements as agreed by the organisation, and to be alert to these as they are notified to the team.
How the programme runs
We would hold this programme over four days, including a tutorial to support delegates on the assessment elements of this programme. This could be facilitated as four individual days, over a period of 3-4 months, or two modules of two day programmes, held over two months.
